Sporting injuries are common for elite athletes, and drunken tumbles are equally common for middle-aged superstars. And so, not for the first time we have a one-armed competitor – but what is unique is the injured inebriate managed to persuade the organising committee to replace a two-armed event with a one-handed alternative.

Is the new event one that Nick has recently played at an office night out? Of course. And was that the very same night his clavicle crashed into that pitch-black pavement? Poetic justice perhaps.
