Fighting fit and raring to go, the popular O'Mahony returns to the sporting arena after heeding doctor's advice to withdraw from last summer's tournament to protect his knee. Two years ago he finished in his highest ever positions for five out of eight events, but was way off his best in basketball and especially in pool, where a top two finish – which he has achieved before – would have secured him the title.

Five years on from his only previous victory, he stands a chance as joint-third favourite, and would be a welcome change to the Taylor/O'Mahony engravings that dominate the trophy.
